The primary purpose of the Mental Health Clinician II position is to assess, counsel and appropriately refer individuals with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, patient advocacy, patient referral, prevention, and education. Develops appropriate treatment plans and programs, and in conjunction with physicians and other healthcare providers participates in overall case management responsibilities for assigned patients.
Licensed in the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Psychologist required plus two (2) years post master’s experience in the behavioral health field, preferably in an outpatient medical setting, or Doctorate Degree, PhD/Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program. Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and mental health conditions. Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions. Should be comfortable with the pace of primary care, working on an interdisciplinary team and having strong communication skills. Good knowledge of psychopharmacology. Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected chronic conditions. Computer literate with competence in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills required. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
