Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of University Hospital’s internal and external communications and public relations strategies. This position directs the activities and the efforts of the public affairs staff, including vendors hired to support these functions, to ensure consistent articulation of the hospital’s mission and brand image. This includes oversight of the hospital's website, internal communications and social media platforms, press inquiries and releases, external publications, presentations, and branding initiatives. Position is responsible for advancing communications by establishing and maintaining relationships with reporters, editors, public relations contacts Serves as a key member of the leadership team to develop and maintain a strategic perspective in organizational direction, programs, and services.


A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Political Science, Marketing, Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. Five (5) years of experience in public relations, government affairs, communications, or marketing required, with at least two (2) years in a health care environment preferred. Two (2) years of supervisory/management experience required. Exceptional writing and editing skills with the proven ability to write thoughtful and effective speeches, opinion pieces, briefing, PowerPoint presentations and briefings for the CLO and hospital executive leadership required. Demonstrated creative, strategic, and organizational skills are required. The ability to work independently and in a team environment a must. Applicants may substitute experience as indicated for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
