The primary purpose of the Program Manager (POCT) position is to supervise and coordinate training (and program materials); competency assessment, monitor quality control, instrument selection and maintenance, policy writing, and proficiency testing activities of the Point of Care Programs including, but not limited to, Finger Stick-Glucose, Blood Gas, ACT, Urine Pregnancy, Urinalysis, Rapid HIV, Amniotic Fluid pH, Hepatic Panel, Chem 8, etc. Program Manager (POCT) collaborates with the providers to bring up new testing, provide competency training, and writes policies for the Provider Performed Testing (PPT) areas. The Program Manager (POCT) also trains Laboratory staff in operation of Point of Care equipment for the Infectious Disease area. Co-manage this area with the Administrative Director/Assistant Administrative Director. Assists with special projects for laboratory activities.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or a related field. Must be certified by test as a Medical Technologist by a National Association (e.g., MT-ASCP) or be eligible for certification. Two (2) years of experience; (three (3) years preferred) as a Medical Technologist, including two (2) years of supervisory experience required. Good interpersonal skills. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
