The primary purpose of the Special Procedures Technologist (Mammography) is to provide healthcare services to patients requiring mammography imaging. Performs appropriate procedure and related techniques on patients, producing images for the interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures. Responsible for carrying out quality control tests to comply with state and federal requirements. Must be able to perform duties in UH as well as on the Mobile Mammography Van. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
The successful candidate must be a graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology and a registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, with a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist. Must be experienced in all aspects of Mammography related procedures and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements. Must be detailed in approach to compiling statistics and documentation. Excellent knowledge of radiography and, RIS and PACS is required.
Must be a graduate of an approved Radiology Technology Program. NJ State license and ARRT certification and current active registration. One (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist. Must be thoroughly versed, experienced and competent in all aspects of mammography related procedures and MQSA requirements. Annual fit testing is required. Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
