Overview

About the Role

The Chief Neurophysiology Technologist is responsible for overseeing all laboratory personnel and supervising the technical operations of the neurophysiology lab. This role includes managing clerical workflows, supporting training initiatives, and evaluating requests for neurophysiological tests such as EEG, Video EEG Monitoring, TCD, EP, and NCS/EMG. The Chief Technologist advises physicians on appropriate procedures and test protocols, selects and configures the necessary equipment, and ensures diagnostic studies are properly executed. Additionally, they review test results to confirm they meet the standards required for interpretation and are capable of performing or assisting with all procedures as needed. The position requires the advanced skills, education, and expertise of a senior-level technologist to provide care for patients across all age groups, from newborns to older adults.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Supervises all neurophysiology laboratory personnel

  • Oversees the technical operations of the neurophysiology lab

  • Manages clerical tasks related to lab functions

  • Supports and participates in staff training and development

  • Reviews and evaluates requests for neurophysiological tests, including:

    • EEG

    • Video EEG Monitoring

    • Transcranial Doppler (TCD)

    • Evoked Potentials (EP)

    • Nerve Conduction Studies/Electromyography (NCS/EMG)

  • Advises physicians on appropriate procedures and test protocols

  • Selects, programs, and maintains equipment needed for diagnostic studies

  • Ensures all tests are properly performed and meet quality standards for interpretation

  • Performs or assists with neurophysiology procedures as needed

  • Applies advanced-level knowledge and skills to care for patients of all ages—from newborns to older adults

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  •  
    • High School Diploma or equivalent GED certification required

    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in EEG and Video EEG Monitoring required

    • Completion of a Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation Program accredited by ABRET required

    • Successful completion of a national registry exam through ABRET required

    • Current American Heart Association CPR certification and BLS certification required

    • Annual Respirator Fit Testing required

    Preferred Credentials and Experience:

    • Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field preferred

    • Prior supervisory experience preferred

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

The expected salary range for this position is ($75,788 - $110,359) per year in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
