Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician I is trained to perform duties with a focus on a specialized pharmacy area: such as, but not limited to, procurement, mixing room, the 340B federal drug pricing program, and the Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA), etc. The Pharmacy Technician I position performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose medication distribution system and intravenous admixture program. Responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, prepare intravenous medication, including but not limited to chemotherapy and hyper alimentations, fill automated medication dispensing system with unit dose medications, procure, and fill requests for pharmaceutical supplies and deliver supplies. The Pharmacy Technician I (Procurement) is responsible for assisting the Supervisor Pharmacy Procurement in ordering,managing, and maintaining inventory. After being trained, on a regular basis will spend the majority of time working in the specialized pharmacy area. May be assigned to perform duties of Pharmacy Technicians as needed.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required from the Pharmacy Technician Certification
Board (PTCB) or the Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT). Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required. Procurement experience preferred. Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy. Must successfully complete training in specialized pharmacy area.
