Supervisor Access Area Phlebotomy Team

The primary purpose of the Supervisor Accession Area Phlebotomy Team position is to supervise the Accession Area Technicians of the Accession Area and the Phlebotomy Team on all shifts, both at University Hospital and the outpatient clinic phlebotomy areas that the Laboratory draws. Assures continuity of accession/phlebotomy service on all shifts. Interacts with personnel of the Hospital and clinical units as needed. Participates in the in-service education and training of students in the SHRP phlebotomy, medical technology, EMT and other courses. Oversees the Accession Area computer operations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or related field is required. Phlebotomy certification. ASCP certification or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of EPIC preferred. Three (3) years of related experience required; clinical laboratory experience in a hospital setting preferred; supervisory experience preferred. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
