The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse Abstractor is to maintain, collect, and analyze patient medical records and ensures high levels of data abstraction that will be submitted into the National Cardiovascular Data Registries (NCDR). Carries out data management responsibilities for clinical data that are needed to fulfill the organizational quality improvement plan and to meet regulatory requirements.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a health-related field required. Master’s Degree in Information Technology preferred. Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. A minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience in the acute care setting required. Core understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and treatment modalities preferred. Experience with Cardiology NCDR Registries data abstraction is required. Knowledge of Billing CPT/HCPCS-Codes is required. Must possess analytical and statistical expertise in healthcare data management, as well as experience performing exploratory data analysis Experience in case management/quality improvement is preferred. Experience in a setting with electronic medical records is preferred.
