Overview

About the Role

The Director Employee Health is responsible for directing and coordinating the overall activities, daily operations, and administration of Employee Health Services at University Hospital. The Director is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) who has a collaborative practice agreement with a physician and is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. Is accountable for assuring quality medical care to UH employees by overseeing and performing comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, as well as addressing the behavioral aspects of illness and disease.

Supervises staff of Employee Health Services and ensures that all personnel working at University Hospital are in compliance with Federal, State, Local, TJC, New Jersey State Department of Health and all other regulatory agency requirements, standards, and regulations. The Director Employee Health is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competencies.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Oversees all clinical and administrative phases of the Employee Health Services program at University Hospital.
  • Manages the budget for Employee Health Services and ensures the efficient and effective use of resources and personnel.
  • Responsible for the Quality Assurance Program of the Employee Health Services, including but not limited to, monthly statistics on tuberculosis exposure/screening, hepatitis screening, rubella exposure/screening, Aids exposure/screening of employees seen in the Employee Health Clinic.
  • Tracks annual health assessments to ensure compliance with Joint Commission and NJ DOH.
  • Sends e-mail correspondence to managers/supervisors informing them of annual health assessments due and overdue.
  • Manages and participates in review of pre-employment charts of new hires to ensure that all DOH requirements are satisfied before an employee is cleared to work.
  • Directs the daily activities of the Employee Health Services to allow for the routine physical examination, treatment of acutely ill employees during working hours, epidemiological follow – ups, routine screenings for Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Rubella, and AIDS, Employee education, and Wellness related activities.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey required.
  • Master's Degree required. Five (5) years of related nursing experience required, including three (3) years of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • BLS (CPR) required.  
  • Demonstrates effective leadership competencies in order to manage the day-to-day activities of the department.
  • Computer literacy required.

Preferred:

  • At least one (1) year of supervisory/management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Worker’s Compensation, Employee Health Screening, FMLA protocols preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is Negotiable in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
