Overview

The Program Support Coordinator (Bariatric) will play a critical role in coordinating the clinical and administrative aspects of the Bariatric Program. This individual will work closely with the Bariatric team to develop, implement, and review clinical guidelines and policies related to Bariatric procedures. The Program Support Coordinator is responsible for overseeing data collection, ensuring accurate documentation for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) data registry, and supporting the team in marketing and patient engagement efforts. The coordinator will also monitor patients throughout their entire Bariatric journey, ensuring optimal care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with the Bariatric Program team to review and develop clinical guidelines for various Bariatric procedures. Disseminates approved policies and protocols across the team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Overseeing Bariatric Data Management, including the collection and entry of data for the MBSAQIP registry. Monitors trends and shares outcome data to inform continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Organizing and preparing collected data for entry into the database to start the TJC Certification process
  •  support the initiation of The Joint Commission (TJC) certification process, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to launch a comprehensive marketing campaign including but not limited to, developing flyers, and spreading information to the community.
  • Managing the Bariatric Services plan extends from the first patient contact following them through the pathway to discharge. Monitors patients from the beginning to the end of the Bariatric Program.
  • Working closely with the Bariatric team, including Physician, PA, APN, Dietitian, RN, Administrative Director, and ACTs to make recommendations about seminars, overseeing the new patients, health fairs, post-ops, and follow up visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Social Work, or a related field required. Equivalent experience, education, or training may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a healthcare environment, with direct experience working with bariatric patients.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New Jersey, or a current Certified or Licensed Social Worker (LCSW) in New Jersey preferred.
  • Certification as a Metabolic Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer (MBSCR) is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership ability to manage multiple aspects of the program and function within both clinical and administrative environments.
  • Knowledge of bariatric surgery procedures and patient care protocols.
  • Ability to monitor progress and follow up on outstanding tasks or issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in data management and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain a patient-focused approach.
