About the Role
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a highly trained healthcare provider, credentialed through the Medical Staff Office via a formal collaborative practice agreement with a physician. As a member of the Medical Staff, the APN upholds professional standards, including ethical clinical decision-making, active participation in quality improvement initiatives, leadership, self-assessment, and engagement in research. The APN is self-motivated and committed to continuous learning and maintaining clinical competency.
In the Hematology/Oncology Practice, the APN applies advanced clinical judgment to perform comprehensive health assessments, establish differential diagnoses, and manage care through the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. The APN’s practice supports health promotion and disease management through research, education, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, functioning both independently and as a consultant.
What You’ll Do
Serves as a credentialed Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) through the Medical Staff Office under a formal collaborative agreement with a physician
Functions as a member of the Medical Staff, demonstrating high standards of professional practice
Engages in ethical clinical decision-making and participates in quality improvement initiatives
Demonstrates leadership, self-evaluation, and commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning
Actively involved in clinical research and evidence-based practice
Utilizes advanced clinical judgment to perform comprehensive health assessments and formulate differential diagnoses
Manages patient care through the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments
Provides direct care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions
Promotes health and wellness through education, research, and clinical practice
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams while also functioning autonomously as a healthcare provider and consultant
What You’ll Bring
Required:
Must hold a current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey
Completion of a master's-level Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) educational program required
Must be eligible for certification by a recognized national certifying body
Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and creative problem-solving skills are essential
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Experience and knowledge in hematology/oncology preferred
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Certificate and/or Radiation Therapy Certificate preferred
National Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
Active participation in relevant professional and/or specialty organizations preferred
Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)
The expected salary for this position is ($75.00) per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
