Overview

The primary purpose of the Lead Ultrasound Technologist position is to oversee the daily operation of the ultrasound section at University Hospital Department of OB/GYN by carrying out procedures, assessing and improving service quality, and monitoring technical staff activities to ensure accurate and thorough completion of assignments.  The Lead Ultrasound Technologist for OB/GYN performs ultrasound procedures for the interpretation of a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Care provided is patient centered.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to AIUM, ACOG and maternal fetal medicine protocols.
  • Contributes to the achievement of excellence in the department through the adherence to productivity, quality assurance,
    customer service, and code of conduct standards established by the department or organization
  • Follows hospital infection control policies and procedures.
  • Safe patient handling.
  • Teamwork ‐ Cooperates and works well with department staff members and all hospital personnel.
  • Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate
    Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as
    they change or are modified.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be a graduate of an approved Ultrasound Program.
  • ARDMS certification in OB/GYN required and current active registration required.
  • Three (3) years of maternal fetal medicine experience required.
  • Additional certification in Nuchal Translucency preferred.
  • Annual fit testing required
  • Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR
