About the Role
The primary function of the Special Procedures Technologist (Mammography) is to deliver diagnostic imaging services to patients requiring mammography. This role involves performing imaging procedures and techniques to produce high-quality images for interpretation by, or at the direction of, a licensed practitioner. The technologist ensures appropriate patient care, identifying and responding to conditions necessary for the safe and accurate completion of procedures. Responsibilities also include conducting quality control tests in compliance with state and federal regulations. Services may be provided both at University Hospital and on the Mobile Mammography Unit. The technologist is expected to exercise sound professional judgment and uphold the highest standards of medical ethics.
What You’ll Do
Provides diagnostic imaging services for patients undergoing mammography
Performs imaging procedures and techniques to produce high-quality images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner
Delivers appropriate and compassionate patient care throughout the imaging process
Assesses and responds to patient conditions to ensure safe and effective procedures
Conducts quality control tests to meet state and federal compliance requirements
Performs duties both at University Hospital and on the Mobile Mammography Unit
Applies professional judgment and maintains ethical standards in all aspects of patient care and imaging services
What You’ll Bring
Required:
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program
Must hold a valid New Jersey State license and ARRT certification with current active registration
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist required
Familiarity with Brevera stereotactic biopsy unit and Mammotome biopsy systems highly preferred
Must be fully knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in all mammography procedures and MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) requirements
Annual fit testing is required
Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification through the American Heart Association
What We Offer
Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)
The expected salary for this position is ($51.00) per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
