Overview

The primary purpose of the Ultrasound Technologist provides health care services for inpatients and outpatients of the University Hospital/ DOC through the applications of non-ionizing radiation (in the form of ultrasound). The technologist perform general, OB/GYN, vascular ultrasound procedures for the interpretation of a licensed practitioner. The patient population ranges from newborn to maturity. Exercise professional judgment throughout the performance of his/her duties and maintains a demeanor that supports the values and mission of the department, ensuring that all interaction with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators and other members of the hospital staff are professional and in accordance with the established guidelines of the institution.

Responsibilities

Care provided is patient centered.

Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures.

Contributes to the achievement of excellence in the department through the adherence to productivity, quality assurance, customer service, and code of conduct standards established by the department or organization.

Safe patient handling.

Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an approved Ultrasound Program

ARDMS certification required and current active registration required

Annual fit testing required

Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR
