Overview

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Ultrasound Technologist - Per Diem provides health care services for inpatients and outpatients of the University Hospital/ DOC through the applications of non-ionizing radiation (in the form of ultrasound). The technologist perform general, OB/GYN, vascular ultrasound procedures for the interpretation of a licensed practitioner. The patient population ranges from newborn to maturity. Exercise professional judgment throughout the performance of his/her duties and maintains a demeanor that supports the values and mission of the department, ensuring that all interaction with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators and other members of the hospital staff are professional and in accordance with the established guidelines of the institution.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Positions patient in accordance with established protocols or approved physician instructions, employing immobilization devices, as reviewed in random critiques of images by radiologist or QC Technologist.
  • Determines proper and satisfactory ultrasound technique – appropriate probes 98% of the time, as reviewed in random critiques of images by radiologist or QC Technologist.
  • Verified informed consent where required 100% of the time, as indicated by retrospective reviews of consent form presence in the chart for specific special procedures – biopsy exams.
  • Contributes to the achievement of excellence in the department through the adherence to productivity, quality assurance ,customer service, and code of conduct standards established by the department or organization.
  • The technologist will ensure 100% of the time that all procedures performed by him/her are “completed” in the RIS system and “verified” in PACS after the study is complete and finalized. No more than 3 un – “completed” studies will be allowed in any 12-month period, as verified by review of RIS management reports.
  • With conditions permitting as defined by the lead tech, each technologist is expected to perform and complete and average of 10 routine exams over the course of an eight-hour shift 100% of the time, as verified by RIS management reports.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Must be a graduate of an approved Ultrasound Program.
  • ARDMS certification required, and current active registration required.
  • Annual fit testing required.
  • Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position (Per Diem) is XH99H: $51.00 in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
