About the Role

University Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Environmental Services to lead our environmental services team and ensure a safe, clean, and compliant healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing sanitation, waste management, infection control, and staff supervision to support the hospital’s mission of providing top-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage the environmental services department, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met
  • Develop and implement strategic goals to improve service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital regulations and safety protocols related to environmental hygiene and waste disposal.
  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-saving initiatives within the department.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise environmental services staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration and medical staff to maintain a sanitary healthcare environment.
  • Manage hazardous and medical waste disposal, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and implement improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred).
    5+ years of experience in hospital environmental services or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, hospital safety regulations, and waste management procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment and collaborate across departments.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

The expected salary range for this position is MS31S: $95,443.00 - $123,890.00 - $152,336.00 / per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
