About the Role
Under the supervision of a Manager or Supervisor, provides safe and efficient transportation services for patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics. Also responsible for transporting patient-related materials, including but not limited to specimens, oxygen tanks, packages, requisitions, supplies, medication orders, and lab items. May use various tools and equipment such as pagers and locks as part of daily operations. Performs routine preventive maintenance on transport equipment as needed.
What You’ll Do
Transports patients safely and efficiently across all age groups, from neonates to geriatric patients
Operates under the supervision of a Manager or Supervisor
Delivers patient-related items, including specimens, oxygen tanks, packages, requisitions, supplies, lab samples, and medication orders
Utilizes necessary tools and equipment such as pagers, locks, and other transport-related devices
Ensures proper handling and timely delivery of materials to support patient care
Conducts routine preventive maintenance and safety checks on all transport equipment
Adheres to hospital protocols and safety standards during all transport activities
What You’ll Bring
Preferred:
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of one (1) year customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English effectively to perform job duties
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of patients and healthcare staff
Must be physically capable of walking and standing for extended periods
Able to push, pull, lift, and bend with proper hand-eye coordination as outlined in PM&R Physical Assessment
Must complete University Hospital’s body mechanics training within three (3) months of hire
Ability to complete CPR training as required
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing staffing needs and rotating shifts with advance notice
What We Offer
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is TS/1375: $ 18.82 - $19.32 - $19.90 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
