The primary purpose of the Appeals Specialist position is to provide follow up and administrative support to the UR Appeals in the Department of Patient Accounts. Inputs, tracks and trends data, interacts with external managed care organizations, physicians & case managers to assist with the appeal process. Prepares and monitors logs and produces reports as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, healthcare field or other related field required, plus three (3) years of administrative support experience, preferably in a hospital setting, required. Experience with report writing and data analysis required. Experience in medical records, social work, finance or utilization management preferred. Experience with developing and maintaining databases and working with various software applications required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required, as well as strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
