About the Role

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, this role provides medical interpretation services for patients and healthcare staff. It involves accurately conveying medical and related information between individuals who speak different languages, while adhering to hospital protocols and maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Report directly to the Program Coordinator to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
  • Provide professional medical interpretation services for patients and healthcare staff.
  • Accurately convey medical and related information between individuals who speak different languages.
  • Maintain strict adherence to hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and institutional guidelines.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

 

Required:

 

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in a science, language, or human services area is required.
    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Specific training or experience in medical interpretation is required.
    • Must be a “qualified” Medical Interpreter with a minimum of 40 hours of interpreter training.
    • Certification through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters is required, or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
    • Must have an understanding of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure are required.
    • Additional related experience, education, or training may be substituted for the degree.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

The expected salary range for this position is PS/20S: $55,955.00 - $79,709.00 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
