Medical Technologist (Hematology)

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist Hematology position is to independently perform routine and complex laboratory analyses; assume responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem solving, teaching and supervision under direction. Provides physicians with accurate and reliable analytical results necessary for the diagnosis/treatment of patients.

What You’ll Do  

• Performs and demonstrates proficiency in all applicable lab testing and analyses the lab procedures according to SOP and department workflow.
• Evaluates and reports results accurately to appropriate personnel. Reports the ‘critical results’ in timely manner within less than 15-minute turnaround time.
• Performs “STAT” Procedures. Prioritizes all Stat specimens as indicated by Turnaround Time and report results of ‘STAT’ and ‘Routine’ specimens within established time frame.
• Performs and documents established Quality Control procedures. Recognizes and initiates action to solve and troubleshoot as needed any deviations or trends of control ranges; and documents it appropriately.
• Performs and logs maintenance procedures for equipment.
• Prepares and monitors reagent supplies for assigned area. Maintains and performs inventory for reagents and supplies for area of responsibility and notifies the supervisor of reduction of supplies ASAP to avoid interruption of workflow. Assists in unpacking, rotating, and storing of reagents and supplies at their appropriate temperature and storage requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related field required.
• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is PH/22B: Probationary Rate: $33.97 – Job Rate: $40.83 – Two Year Rate: $48.50  per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
