About the Role

The Patient Representative plays a key role in enhancing patient satisfaction at University Hospital by fostering clear and compassionate communication between patients, their families or significant others, and hospital staff. This position serves as a vital liaison, ensuring that patients and their loved ones feel heard, supported, and informed throughout their care experience. By proactively identifying and addressing concerns, the Patient Representative helps prevent complaints and grievances, offering guidance to departments on best practices for improving patient experiences and resolving dissatisfaction effectively.

 

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do  

  • Serve as a key contributor to patient satisfaction at University Hospital.
  • Facilitate clear, compassionate communication between patients, families/significant others, and hospital staff.
  • Act as a liaison to ensure patients and their loved ones feel heard, supported, and well-informed throughout their care.
  • Proactively identify and address concerns to prevent complaints and formal grievances.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments to advise on best practices for enhancing the patient experience.
  • Support resolution of patient dissatisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving strategies.

 

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in behavioral or social sciences.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service or healthcare-related field with direct patient contact.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service abilities, including conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
  • Proven experience in triaging and addressing patient, family, or customer concerns promptly and efficiently.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered in place of formal degree requirements.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is XH/99H:$30.25 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
