About the Role
The Diet Control Assistant plays a key role in delivering high-quality Food & Nutrition services to patients across all age groups—including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. This position acts as a vital link between patient care units and the Department of Food & Nutrition, ensuring timely delivery of meals and food items to designated units. The assistant maintains a compassionate, respectful, and confidential approach in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, staff, and students. Responsibilities also include managing individual patient dietary records through electronic Card files and facilitating effective communication between departments.
What You’ll Do
Provides high-quality Food & Nutrition services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
Acts as a liaison between patient care units and the Department of Food & Nutrition to ensure effective communication and service coordination.
Delivers meals and food items to assigned patient care units within established time frames.
Demonstrates a caring, respectful, and confidential approach when interacting with patients, families, visitors, colleagues, staff, and students.
Maintains accurate electronic dietary records (Card files) for individual patients.
Coordinates communication between departments to support seamless nutritional care.
What You’ll Bring
High School Diploma or GED Certificate required
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Food Service, Customer Service, and/or Hospitality required
Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
Serves as a liaison between patient units and the Department of Food and Nutrition
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Customer service and hospitality-oriented mindset
High attention to detail with consistent follow-through
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Capable of building effective relationships in a multicultural environment
Able to perform well under pressure and meet time-sensitive demands
What We Offer
Compensation
The expected hourly rate range for this position is Probationary Rate: $18.04 - Job Rate: $18.54 - Two-Year Rate: $19.10 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
