About the Role

This role is primarily responsible for operating as the technical lead for a small team that maintains

the data network at University Hospital. Ensures network availability, security, and performance through adherence to best practices in planning. Works towards minimizing network downtime and risk, while enhancing manageability and reporting.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Follow directives, policies, and strategic guidance set by senior leadership and IST Infrastructure Management.
  • Works well with minimal supervision, as well as alone or as part of a team.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement network solutions based on organizational objectives and leadership guidance.
  • Ensure all network designs, configurations, and changes align with company policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with IST Infrastructure leadership to assess network performance, security, and scalability, providing feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Recommends, evaluates, and implements potential new network hardware and software in support of emerging technologies for hospitalwide or departmental projects.
  • Coordinates and/or performs maintenance, configuration changes, additions, and changes to network hardware in accordance with hospital policy, directives, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Organizes work process to accommodate customer needs, including internal customers and co

  • Acts as a role model for Service Excellence.

 

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Math, or Electrical Engineering, or other related field.
  • Requires five (5) years’ practical experience designing and/or implementing Cisco wired and wireless network infrastructures.
  • The candidate must possess a solid understanding of networking concepts (such as EIGRP, BGP, Qos, Multicast, VPN, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, FTP, VXLAN, EVPN, ACL, SSH and SNMP) and should have working knowledge of Cisco Nexus/NXOS switches, Cisco Catalyst Switches, Cisco Wireless and Routers, WLAN controllers and principles of all firewalls.
  • The candidate should have handson experience implementing and administrating Cisco Data Center products, including the Nexus produced line, in addition to familiarity with HSRP, vPC and VSS.
  • Experience Cisco related lines of products including but not limited to Cisco DNAC, Cisco ISE and other Cisco tools is a plus.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of network security standards and best practices, as well as be able to work with or assist the Network Security team as needed.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree or certification requirements.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the healthcare field is preferred.
  • The candidate should function well in a team environment and be able to mentor junior engineers. CCNA or CCNP certifications are strongly preferred.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is PS/32S: Min. $97,075.00 Mid. $117,473.00 Max. $140,256.00 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
