Overview

About the Role           

The Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Coordinator (QAPI) investigates and coordinates all clinical risk events and activities for Clinical Risk and Patient Safety, under the direction of hospital patient safety leadership. Aligns clinical risk and patient safety program with the hospital quality program, including transparency, reporting, and communication between staff and hospital executive and Board leadership. Maintains compliance with CMS and regulatory requirements. Manages risk quality metric analysis and coordinates improvement activities. Implementation and application of the Hospital Risk and Incident management policies. Tracks and investigates major reports and investigations through a defined process.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Investigates and coordinates all clinical risk events and activities related to Clinical Risk and Patient Safety.
  • Operates under the guidance of hospital patient safety leadership.
  • Aligns clinical risk and patient safety efforts with the hospital’s overall quality program.
  • Promotes transparency, reporting, and effective communication between staff, hospital executives, and the Board.
  • Ensures compliance with CMS and other regulatory standards.
  • Analyzes risk-related quality metrics and facilitates improvement initiatives.
  • Implements and applies hospital policies for risk and incident management.
  • Tracks and investigates major reports and incidents using a structured process

Qualifications

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A BSN or a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience (e.g., Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy).
  • Experience in patient safety or clinical risk management is preferred, especially with process analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Preferred experience working in a large, complex healthcare organization.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement new programs.
  • Proficient in data management.
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Health Care Risk Management Certification is required or must be obtained within one year of hire.
  • Equivalent experience, education, and training may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, salary range for this position is PS-34S: $106,366.00 - $128,859.00 - $153,944.00  per year annually.
