About the Role

The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist, Molecular Diagnostics position is to perform both routine and complex laboratory analyses while ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with established standards. The role assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem-solving, teaching, and supervision as appropriate, and provides physicians with precise analytical results essential for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate specimens and organize workflow to ensure efficient testing and timely turnaround of results.
  • Perform moderate and high complexity testing in accordance with laboratory standards and protocols.
  • Apply quality control measures to review test and instrument performance; perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of reagents and supplies, communicating needs to maintain uninterrupted operations.
  • Accurately document, maintain, and archive test results and related data.
  • Support quality management initiatives, including training, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities.
  • Demonstrate competence across all assigned laboratory procedures to meet performance standards.
  • Adhere to University Hospital compliance standards, policies, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific discipline required.
  • ASCP certification (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Certification in Molecular Biology/Molecular Diagnostics is strongly preferred.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $41.00.
