Overview

About the Role

Under the direction of the VP of Support Services, ensures the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of all physical and real properties and equipment of assigned facilities.  Administers and directs programs to manage building maintenance, grounds, and equipment, and to procure or generate utilities and their distribution within University Hospital’s facilities.  Also coordinates with project teams, construction and renovation programs.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do   

  • Manages computerized programs in Preventive Maintenance, Construction, Financial Management, and Energy Control to plan, organize and control functions and activities of plant operations and building maintenance.
    • Reviews and evaluates existing programs, services, policies and procedures.  Develops, recommends to VP of Support Services and implements or guides implementation of new and/or modified programs, services, policies and/or procedures, as directed.
    • Meets with VP of Support Services, medical, administrative and supervisory staff, as well as community groups, agencies, contractors, architects, and engineers to plan, organize, coordinate, and/or communicate programs, services, policies and/or procedures.
    • Monitors flow and quality of work to assure timely completion of workload and adherence to facility’s standards and regulations.
    • Ensures adequate inventories of supplies and approves requisitions for equipment, supplies, etc. as authorized.
    • Prepares and manages departmental budgets, including utilities energy savings program.
    • Prepares and maintains a variety of departmental records and reports.
    • Manages and insures compliance with TJC, State Health Department, CMS, EPA, DEP, ADA, UST, and other regulatory
  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors construction and development of physical facilities.
  • Responsible for understanding agreements and expectations incorporated in the CSA with Rutgers related to utilities, grounds, buildings.
  • Responsible for in-house fire response team.
  • Identifies key issues and action programs for staffing, training safety, labor relations, facilities, energy conservation, customer service, capital renewal, productivity, affirmative action compliance, etc.
  • Monitors and controls operations and maintenance within budgetary limitations. Enforces spending controls and routinely reviews operations reports to identify overspending in both the maintenance and capital areas.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facility Management or a related field preferred. Seven years of progressively more responsible experience, with five years at a managerial level, in an acute medical care center required.
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment required. 
  • Candidates must have adequate knowledge of AutoCad, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment preferred.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is PS/37S - MS/37S - $135,789.00 - $179,126.00 - $222,469.00per year. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
