About the Role

 

The Assistant Director of Enviornmental Services Supervises housekeeping activities for facilities at University Hospital during assigned shift. Supervises the usage of materials and maintains approved methods for infection control.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Processes are patient-centered; actively creates a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment for UH customers, drives collaboration with leadership (including physicians), and responds to patient needs, concerns, and complaints within 24–48 hours.
  • Displays a “can-do” attitude across departments, monitors and analyzes patient satisfaction data, takes corrective actions, and acts as a role model for Service Excellence while maintaining composure in stressful situations.
  • Ensures respect for patient rights and commitment to the uniqueness of each individual; customer service scores meet or exceed targets.
  • Available for flexible shifts and plans/schedules work to maximize effective use of employees, equipment, and materials within budgetary requirements.
  • Manages personnel actions including hiring, firing, promotions, merit increases, transfers, and disciplinary measures.
  • Plans, develops, and implements housekeeping and infection control programs, conducts inventory, inspects equipment/supplies, carries out isolation procedures, and ensures proper use of garments and chemicals.
  • Maintains accurate records including timekeeping, cleaning quality, equipment usage, and detailed housekeeping logs; requisitions and supervises proper use and care of institutional equipment and materials.
  • Adheres to compliance standards, stays current with federal, state, and UH regulations, ensures staff training and evaluation on compliance policies, and functions as Director in their absence; performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

 

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree or 170 credits from N.E.H.A., plus four (4) years of large scale general housekeeping experience, which shall have included at least two (2) years of supervisory experience in work connected with housekeeping, sanitation or maintenance services.
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred. Must have knowledge of cross‐infection and isolation procedures and techniques.
  • Will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Additional supervisory experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

 

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $76,937.00 - $115,407.00. 

 

University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.
