About the Role

The Coordinator Dock Operations (Coordinator) is responsible for the overall operation, safety, and efficiency of the hospital’s main loading dock facility. This role oversees inbound and outbound shipments, vehicle traffic while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Coordinator supervises dock staff and collaborates with multiple departments to streamline supply chain processes and support the hospital’s operational needs.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do   

  • Manages the overall day-to-day operations of the dock to promote efficiency.
  • Serves as operational and technical logistics resource representing Hospital dock operations.
  • Maintains the cleanliness (with collaboration with EVS) and organization of the shipping area, loading dock, A level halls, and trash areas.
  • Manages the shipment, receipt and distribution of all products, materials, supplies, and mail.
  • Manages employees of the Shipping, Receiving and mail department at UH.
  • Responsible for monitoring and coordinating all activities on the loading dock.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of department vehicles.
  • Utilizes logistics and inventory software to track, prioritize, and route orders to internal departments.
  • Ensures that employees requiring access to Shipping and Receiving Department vehicles maintain satisfactory driving records.
  • Coordinates delivery of materials, packages and mail to hospital departments and confirm receipt transactions in the system.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that direct logistics operations; reviews and evaluates existing operational methods and procedures for effectiveness and efficiency; initiates change as necessary to ensure compliance with federal and state rules, and regulations.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is required
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in logistics, warehouse, or supply chain operations is required, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory or managerial capacity preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to train and guide staff effectively.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and dock levelers.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, work effectively under pressure, and exercise good judgment in critical situations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Additional related experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is SS/24S: $69,454.00 - $85,284.00 - $101,113.00. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
