Overview

About the Role

The Benefits Services Associate administers and effectively communicates University Hospital’s benefits programs, ensuring compliance with State of New Jersey regulations and University Hospital policies and procedures.

 

 

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, prescription, retirement, and supplemental benefit plans.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and payroll deductions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Counsel employees on health, welfare, and retirement benefits, and conduct new hire benefits orientations.
  • Maintain accurate electronic benefits records and perform audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, payroll, state agencies, and third-party vendors to resolve benefits-related issues.
  • Review and process retirement, pension, deferred compensation, and reimbursement requests in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor benefits eligibility and ensure compliance with State of New Jersey regulations, IRS guidelines, and University Hospital policies.
  • Assist with employee communications, benefits education initiatives, wellness events, and informational seminars.
  • Utilize Banner and other HR systems to manage benefits data, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Support departmental operations and contribute to a positive employee benefits experience.

 

 

 

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required, plus a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a computerized business environment with demonstrated customer service skills.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a Human Resources or benefits administration environment required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet and database management applications.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is YS/22S: Min-$66,251; Mid-$79,114; Max-$91,979 annually. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The salary range provided is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
