Overview

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Senior Linen Services Associate position is to perform various task to receive, store, collect, and distribute, track and transport linen (sterile, clean, and/or soiled) for assigned areas throughout the hospital in a safe and efficient manner. Serves as a lead to ensure efficient workflow in and out of the department, especially in the absence of the Manager, by starting the shift with the team, orienting new staff with infection control policy & procedures, and training all new staff to deliver and collect soiled linens.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:  

  • Service provided is patient centered; actively contributes to creating a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment for UH customers while meeting or exceeding customer expectations for service.
  • Communicates clearly to ensure understanding, responds to complaints and concerns by resolving issues immediately whenever possible, and demonstrates respect for patient rights.
  • Acts as a role model for Service Excellence, maintains professional composure in the workplace, and works effectively with the team to ensure customer service scores meet/exceed targets.
  • In the absence of the manager, may assist with shift coverage, ensure staff adherence to schedules, oversee clean and soiled linen distribution and collection, and coordinate inventory needs with the Inventory Manager.
  • Orients new staff on infection control policies and procedures, trains employees on the proper delivery and collection of soiled linens, and utilizes computer systems, handheld units, and/or manual entry forms for linen tracking.
  • Stocks, distributes, inventories, and refills clean linens and apparel; delivers emergency linen as needed; tracks reserved linen inventory; and identifies items requiring repair or replacement.
  • Maintains work areas, equipment, linen rooms, logs, records, and linen statistics; examines laundered items for cleanliness and serviceability; and adheres to and promotes linen control policies and procedures.
  • Complies with attendance requirements, University Hospital compliance standards, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and University Hospital policies, while performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in institutional environmental services or linen services required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Will provide coverage for staffing shortages, including weekends, holidays, and periods of inclement weather.

Compensation

 

The expected salary range for this position is $ 20.06 – $ 21.18 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
