Responsibilities

Under the direction of Executive Director Community and Population Health Services, the Health Educator II is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating the health education and community health programs in the Department; stimulates public awareness of health needs, sound health practices, hospital and community health resources; stimulates, plans & organizes health educational programs; promotes action for improved public health. Coordinates internal and external projects for Community and Population Health initiatives including project research and development, and community initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field plus two (2) years of health education experience required, or a Master’s Degree in Public Health or a related field plus one (1) year of health education experience required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Certification as a Lactation Consultant or a Diabetes Educator preferred. Must possess ability to work independently on tasks, integrate in a fast-paced environment, and have exceptional time management and organizational skills. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, good public speaking/group facilitation skills, and be an effective communicator with diverse groups of people, including community-based organizations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend hours. A valid driver’s license is preferred.
