The primary purpose of the Ultrasound Technologist provides health care services for inpatients and outpatients of the University Hospital/DOC through the applications of non-ionizing radiation (in the form of ultrasound). The technologist performs general, OB/GYN, vascular ultrasound procedures for the interpretation of a licensed practitioner. The patient population ranges from newborn to maturity. Develops and manages complex projects. Oversees the planning, development, implementation and support of hospital information systems. Supervises analyst/project staff. Develops testing strategies according to system build and downstream system requirements. Oversees and assists the hospital with the development of a training plan. Ensures that systems are implemented and functioning under the guidance of acceptable University policies and procedures and meet all regulatory requirements

Performs analysis, design and implementation on systems to solve complex problems under the direction of a Senior Hospital Applications Analyst or Principal Hospital Applications Specialist. Tests and analyzes processes according to system specifications and within established timelines. Interacts with customers, vendors and other HST/IS&T staff to identify problems and propose solutions. Conducts training programs as required
