The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse, Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) position is to administer total patient care based on individualized needs of assigned patients and families in accordance with professional nursing standards. The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Scrub Nurse position is to work under the direct supervision of the professional registered nurse (RN)/Staff Nurse in the operating room. The LPN Scrub Nurse may take vitals, prepare, and administer injections, monitor medical equipment, and dress wounds. LPN Scrub Nurses assist RNs with perioperative patient care by acting as a scrub nurse and/or circulating nurse during surgical procedures. During the surgery, the LPN Scrub Nurse hands the surgeon instruments, sponges and sutures and might assist by holding retractors or performing other task.
